What is a stairlift?
Stairlifts are mechanical seating units that are used to take people up and down the stairs. They can be completely customized to be used on straight stairs, curved stairs, or even outdoors. Stairlifts are designed to help people easily and safely access the second floor of their homes when walking up and down the stairs may be difficult.
How safe is the stairlift?
Our stairlifts are designed with your safety in mind. Safety features include sensors that will immediately stop the stairlift from moving if something is detected within its path. There are also manual buttons that can be used to start and stop the stairlift. This includes an emergency stop button. In addition to these safety features, each unit comes equipped with a seat belt for added security.
Does insurance cover the cost of a stairlift?
Traditional insurance plans and Medicare do not cover the cost of stairlifts. We will work with you to find the right stairlift to fit within your budget.
What maintenance does a stairlift require?
Your stairlift is a high-quality piece of equipment, and it’s important to have it serviced regularly to ensure everything is working properly. We recommend having your unit serviced every year.
How much will stairlift maintenance cost?
Each of our straight stairlifts comes with a lifetime warranty that covers the motor and gearbox, a two-year warranty for parts, and a one-year warranty for labor. Curved stairlifts have a five-year warranty that covers the motor and gearbox, a two-year warranty for parts, and a one-year warranty for labor. Maintenance costs outside of the warranty vary depending on what needs to be repaired.
How often will the batteries on a stairlift need to be replaced?
Our stairlifts use rechargeable batteries that will hold a charge for up to 10 cycles of the unit moving up and down the stairs. These batteries typically last anywhere from three to five years.
How is a stairlift powered?
Our stairlifts are plugged into an existing electrical outlet, and a transformer lowers the power requirements enough so two 12-volt batteries can be continuously charged to power the stairlift.
Can I replace stairlift batteries myself?
Because replacing your stairlift batteries may involve removing some of the unit’s parts, you should only have your batteries replaced by trained personnel. This will ensure that the stairlift is put back together properly and remains safe for use.
Can I install my own stairlift?
Your stairlift purchase comes with professional installation by trained experts. Professional installation ensures that the equipment is securely attached to the required supports and that it will work properly for you. Any installation or maintenance should always be done by qualified personnel.
Are my stairs suitable for a stairlift?
Whether you have straight or curved stairs, we can customize your stairlift to work in your home. For your peace of mind, we use an advanced augmented reality app that will allow you to see what the unit will look like when it is installed in your home so you know exactly what you will be getting.
How long will it take before my stairlift can be installed?
When your new stairlift can be installed depends on several factors. The first step is for you to contact us to schedule a free in-home assessment. During our visit, we will discuss the available options with you to determine your needs according to your budget. We will then design your system, and after you approve the design, we will send out professional installers to install your stairlift for you. This usually takes between three and four weeks.
How will my stairlift be installed?
Our professional installers will install your new stairlift using high-quality supports and brackets designed to ensure your safety. The actual installation process will take about two or three hours for a typical straight stairlift, while curved or outdoor stairlifts may take longer.
What are the weight capacities for stairlifts?
The weight capacities for stairlifts vary according to each model, so while some may have a 275 lb. capacity, others may have a maximum capacity of 310 lbs., 350 lbs. or even up to 440 lbs.
How do I use a stairlift?
Unfold the seat, armrests, and footrest. Sit down on the seat and fasten your seatbelt. Use the toggle controller to move the stairlift up or down the stairs and to swivel the seat around if needed. See the video at the top of this page to see how to use a stairlift.
